developingJERSEY CITY, N.J. (PIX11) – A New York pharmacist was arrested Thursday after federal agents raided his alleged Jersey City drug lab.

DEA and FBI agents stormed the Bleecker apartment of 33-year-old Jordan Gonzalez just after midnight. Officials say hazardous and explosive materials used to manufacture the drug methylenedioxyamphetamine (or MDA) were found.

While similar to the popular club drug “Molly” or MDMA, MDA is more of a psychedelic drug, affecting a user’s vision and mood.

The drug bust prompted the street and nearby businesses to be closed.

Law enforcement officials are investigating in New York and New Jersey in connection to the bust.

Gonzalez has been charged with one count of attempting to manufacture MDA and one count of possessing chemicals and materials to manufacture a controlled substance.

If convicted, Gonzalez faces 20 years in prison.
