The most expensive piece of art ever auctioned off has been sold at Christie’s Auction House in Manhattan.

Tuesday, Francis Bacon’s iconic 1969 triptych “Three Studies of Lucien Freud” was sold for $142 million, after six minutes of fierce bidding.

The sale shattered the old record of $119 million set by Edvard Munch’s “The Scream,” which was sold at Sotheby’s last year.
