SUV goes airborne, killing 2 and injuring 3 others in the Bronx

THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – Two men were killed and three others were injured after an SUV jumped a median and struck two cars on the opposite lanes early Saturday in the Bronx.

54-year-old Patrick Sheehan of Larchmont was killed when the livery cab he was a passenger in had its roof sheared off by the airborne SUV. The driver of the Lincoln Town Car, 51-year-old Ata Noorzi of Queens, was also pronounced dead on the Hutchinson River Parkway at Exit 5 near Orchard Beach Road.

Police say an SUV traveling northbound hit the median and crossed into southbound traffic causing the fatal crash at 7 a.m.

The 45-year-old driver of the SUV was not seriously hurt.

As of 5 p.m. no charges were filed against the SUV driver but police say the investigation is still ongoing. A third vehicle was also struck and the 39-year-woman and a 15-year-old passengers were listed in stable condition at a nearby hospital.
