Woman struck by car, killed crossing street in Bronx

A Bronx woman was killed Friday morning after being struck by a car while crossing the street, police said.

Maria Montalvo, 66,  was crossing the intersection at Hunts Points and Lafayette avenues at about 10:30 a.m when she was hit by a Nissan pickup truck. Authorities said Montalvo was walking in the crosswalk.

The 55-year-old driver of the pickup stayed at the scene. Montalvo was rushed to Lincoln Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The NYPD is investigating the incident and it is not clear if any criminality is suspected.
