EAST RIVER (PIX11) – Hero NYPD harbor cops spoke with the media at the “George” station house after they rescued a man Friday night.

The man was on a boat in the East River near Rikers Island around 8 p.m. when the craft began to quickly take on water.

Acting quickly, the officers managed to pull the boat’s lone occupant on the boat from the water.

He was cold and wet, but otherwise uninjured.

The boat has sunk, no word yet on what happened to cause it.
