WANTAGH, Long Island (PIX11) -The lockdown at a Long Island school has been lifted and no weapon has been found, according to officials.

Wantagh High School was placed on lockdown after a teacher allegedly overheard a student say they had a gun, according to police.

Nassau County police say the move was a precautionary measure and there is no indication a gun was ever in the school, which is located on Beltagh Avenue.

Sources tell PIX11 that parents are upset because the school didn’t notify them of the lockdown. Students claim that the principal seemed nervous and panicked over the loudspeaker.
