Crack-smoking Toronto mayor has a higher approval rating than Obama

It hasn’t been a very good week for Toronto Mayor Rob Ford.

The Toronto Star has obtained video of a seemingly intoxicated Ford stumbling around a room, cursing and rambling about how he wants to kill someone as someone records the whole scene on a cell phone.

In the wobbly video, Ford is apparently agitated, saying, “I’m gonna [expletive] kill that guy. I’m telling you, it’s first degree murder.” During his tirade, Ford also says he’s going to poke the unknown man’s eyes out, and also rip out his throat.

After the video was released, Ford said in a statement, “All I can say is, again, I’ve made mistakes. I just wanted to come out and tell you I saw a video. It’s extremely embarrassing. The whole world’s going to see it. You know what? I don’t have a problem with that.” Ford goes on to say he was “extremely, extremely inebriated.”

Earlier this week — after months of denials — Ford admitted to smoking crack, after Toronto police confirmed they obtained a video of the mayor using the illicit drug. Ford claims he’s not an addict but has “tried” crack in a “drunken stupor.”

Surprisingly, Ford’s approval rating has actually soared in some polls after his crack use admission.
