New Jersey cops probe two attempted abductions in Ridgewood

Ridgewood, NEW JERSEY (PIX11)–  Police are looking for the suspects behind two attempted abductions in Ridgewood.

Cops say on Friday around 3:15 p.m. a man tried to grab a girl walking home from school on North Monroe Street.

They say the girl was able to break free and run off.

The previous Friday another incident took place in the same area.

According to police a man in a van pulled over to talk two girls walking on Godwin Avenue around 5 p.m.

Those girls were also able to get away.

No one was hurt in either incident.

As a safety precaution police are stepping up patrols around schools in the Ridgewood area.

The first suspect is described as a 6’2″ white man in his 50’s or 60’s with a heavyset build.

The second suspect is described as a man wearing thick gold glasses, with balding gray hair and a scruffy beard.

Right now there is not enough evidence to link the two attempts.
