Mia Toschi was reporting for an international TV station in Union Beach, New Jersey when the storm hit. After seeing the destruction, she kept her camera close and took photos, many of which are now featured in Surviving Sandy. Toschi also led the students from Pascack Valley Learning Center in Airmont, New York to create the 300-page book which details the storm, outlines recovery efforts, and highlights heroes who saved lives and are continuing to rebuild.
