Man rapes young woman at NYU Catholic Center: cops

WEST VILLAGE (PIX11) – A young woman trying to enter a building on the NYU campus was attacked and raped Thursday morning, police said.

It was around 5:30 a.m. and the 24-year-old had just put the keys in the door to the NYU Catholic Center on Thompson St., when the suspect crept up from behind.

Police say the man forced her into the building, where he tore off her clothes and raped her.  She began to scream and managed to fight off her attacker, who ran out and south on LaGuardia Place before taking a left and heading eastbound on West 3rd Street.

Police believe this hat belonged to the man who raped a young woman at the NYU Catholic Center Thursday morning.

Police describe the suspect as a muscular man in his 20s who was wearing a dark grey sweater, dark colored jeans, a black fedora hat and had his right hand bandaged.
