FINANCIAL DISTRICT, Manhattan (PIX11) — Backlash over his comments about One World Trade Center has c ost Banksy an art show at a Manhattan discount retail giant.

Century 21 was supposed to show his work starting Tuesday, but has pulled back after he published his rejected New York Times op-ed article condemning the skyscraper.

“It would be easy to view One World Trade Centre as a betrayal of everyone who lost their lives on September 11th, because it so clearly proclaims the terrorists won,” he said.

Banksy also said the “shyscraper” lacked spine and looked like something that would be built in Canada.

The store where the work was to be on display is across from the trade center and was damaged in the attacks. The store was shuttered for six months.

Banksy has not shied away from the Sept. 11th attack in his works while in New York, creating a stenciled silhouette of the Twin Towers, and adding a silk flower at the spot where the first plane slammed into the North Tower.

He has yet to respond to the cancellation.

Banksy posted the following critique on his website, this mocked-up New York Times article:
