These videos of PIX11’s news coverage on Oct. 28, 2012, capture a remarkable moment: The final hours before Hurricane Sandy claimed dozens of lives, unleashed billions of dollars of property damage, transformed coastlines, produced epic floods, crippled public transportation and parts of the electricity grid and even snarled oil distribution, leading to long lines and rationing.

It’s almost unreal to look at it now, and this is a slice of how we told it, a year ago today.

    I remember it like it was yesterday.i live in staten island.the day after sandy i was so emotional as i walk dwn south beach streets mi emotionz were so bad.two children died that day that sandy hit.swept away into swamps.
