Police search for suspects in apparent double homicide in Newark

NEWARK (PIX11) – Two people were died in an apparent double homicide Tuesday in Newark, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Their names haven’t been released, but both victims were middle aged — a man and a woman.  The man was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:39 p.m., and the woman was taken to University Hospital where she was pronounced dead fifteen minutes later.

It isn’t clear how they were killed, pending an autopsy by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

No arrests have been made, police are still searching for the gunman.
