He’s spent the past seven years as the Mayor of Newark, New Jersey.

But now, Cory Booker is headed to Washington D.C.

Fresh off his win Wednesday night, the Senate Elect sat down with the PIX11 Morning News.

“When people put their vote and their trust in you, it’s really a sacred agreement,” Booker said Thursday morning.

On the gridlock in Washington, Booker said he’s determined to make changes, adding, “I believe ultimately you cannot have great breakthroughs without great frustration.”

Booker said the United States cannot afford to govern through crisis and he hopes politicians learn from the recent government shutdown.

“We have mountains to climb, there are challenges before us,” Booker said. “So, we have to take a humble heart, put your head down and get to work.”
