Staten Island, NEW YORK (PIX11)– From the outside, Beyond Styles Barber Shop on 12 Giffords Lane on Staten Island looks like your run of the mill barber shop. On the inside, prosecutors say, services provided went far beyond a buzz cut.

Three Staten Island men have arrested and charged with trafficking weapons and illegal drugs. One of the suspects is the son of an NYPD officer, Anthony Lagala Jr. who is also considered the ring leader. Adam Paone and Marat Ayzenberg were also arrested concluding a 10 month investigation during which undercover officers bought 4 guns and supplies of Oxycodone.

Court papers filed Thursday allege $20,000 worth of pain medication was sold out of the barber shop each week. Lagala was arrested with 263 Oxycodone pills in his possession according to the District Attorney’s office.

“What these defendants did goes beyond the pale,” said Richmond County District Attorney Daniel Donovan, Jr. “They trafficked guns and drugs out of a business located in the heart of residential Great Kills.”

Once undercover officers purchased painkillers, they eventually moved onto guns – buying 3 handguns and an Uzi. Investigators are still looking into where the suspects were able to obtain the guns and painkillers.

How is this not bigger news? Finally caught culprits who distributed guns and drugs to those we blame for the city's problems. Small patch on the local paper on the eighth page; guess the story of the girl with the fetus in the bag was worth telling, she's society's real problem. And, let's keep extolling Bansky.
