The man who raped an elderly bird watcher in Central Park has been sentenced to 30 years behind bars.

David Albert Mitchell faced his 73-year-old victim at his sentencing Wednesday.

She said he pounced on her from behind and raped her in broad daylight September 12, 2012.

“He attacked me in Central Park when I was doing what I love best. He pounced from behind and smashed me into the ground. I screamed my head off and fought him face-to-face and tried to scratch him and poke his eyes out,” the victim told the Manhattan Supreme Court.

The victim told him in court, “May you rot in hell for eternity.”

Mitchell gave no sign he was even listening and showed no signs of remorse.
