Actor Michael Douglas is now saying that he lied about having throat cancer.

The New York Post reports that Douglas came clean about his real diagnosis – tongue cancer – during  an an interview with a British TV station.

It was 2010 and Douglas was about to begin promoting his movie “Wall Street- Money Never Sleeps” when he received the diagnosis.

His doctor told him to say it’s throat cancer instead of tongue cancer, because if he needed surgery, he may lose part of his jaw and tongue.

Douglas says he went with that recommendation so he didn’t have to answer questions about possibly losing part of his face while promoting the movie.

After chemotherapy and radiation, Douglas has been disease-free.
