WATCH IT: Stop and Shop employee chases robber with a machete

LONG ISLAND (PIX11) — Suffolk County Police are searching for a man who recently attempted to rob a Stop and Shop Deli at gunpoint.

According to authorities, the suspect entered the Stop and Shop Deli, located at 329 Crooked Hill Road in Brentwood NY on Sept. 25 demanding money from an employee and then fired a shot into the wall.

The employee pulled a machete from under the counter and chased the suspect through the parking lot.

The robbery was unsuccessful and suspect gained no proceeds, police said.

The suspect was described as a young black man, thin build, wearing a gray mask, a black running style top with white stripes on the sleeves, dark pants and black and white sneakers.

Cops said he was carrying a black Air Jordan backpack and a silver 22 caliber pistol.
