NEW YORK (PIX11) — For New Yorkers and even out-of-towners, the famed The Halal Guys cart in Midtown is legendary when it comes to hitting that late-night hunger spot.

After 20 years of serving up chicken and rice dishes on the corner of 53rd and Sixth Avenue, there’s some big changes headed for the franchise.

Well-known for its combo platters, gyros and long lines, the guys will finally take its business indoors to a restaurant on the corner of 14th Street and 2nd Avenue.

“We don’t have anything like this down under,” Phil Jameson, a tourist from Australia told PIX 11 News. “You just can’t get anything like it. You gotta come to New York to get this sort of stuff.”

The restaurant is expected to open some time next month.
