I found the Caribbean island of Aruba ideal for romance because Aruba is one of those rare Caribbean islands that truly has it all.
I love that on Aruba there’s something for everyone, from high-rise and boutique luxury hotels to breathtaking beaches, world-class cuisine and award-winning spas, to unique adventures and genuinely warm friendly people.
For my romantic hideaway I chose the lovely Amsterdam Manor Beach Resort for it’s generous sized suites with private balconies and beautiful Dutch colonial architecture.
The Amsterdam Manor Beach Resort is also just steps away from one of Aruba’s most peaceful, stunning beaches, my favorite, Eagle Beach, where you can walk for miles soaking up the sensational scenery or go horseback riding, parasailing, jet skiing, snorkeling, you name it.
Amsterdam Manor is also home to one of the most romantic restaurants in Aruba, Passions on the Beach where you can wiggle your toes in the sand while taking in incredible sunsets. One of my favorite dishes here is the ‘Get Together’ a mouthwatering Grilled Grouper and Spicy Shrimp combo. Also don’t miss the Passion Surprise for dessert where they’ll bring you three of the daily favorites lit up with a festive sparkler.
Another stunner on the beach is the new Elements restaurant at the adult’s only Bucuti & Tara Beach Resorts. Casual but chic Elements has an innovative menu with all kinds of choices including local favorites along with gluten free and vegetarian options. Try the signature Fifth Element cocktail and for dinner the local red snapper in Creole sauce is delicious.
Other favorite Travel Therapy romantic dining experience in Aruba includes having drinks and a meal at Pincho’s Grill & Bar, a floating restaurant with amazing sunset views where they dishes up fantastic fresh seafood and dark rum infused steaks.
For a taste of history in a setting you’ll fall in love with don’t miss Papiamento Restaurant, a locals favorite serving up award-winning authentic Aruban cuisine. At Papiamento it’s a tropical outdoor dining experience where you’ll sit tucked away in an enchanting garden around a pool at a 175-year-old Aruban manor home that also has the largest wine cellar on the island.
When you’re craving carbs head to the charming La Trattoria El Faro Blanco that’s perched high on the hill overlooking the ocean where you feel like you’re staring in your own romantic movie. Some of my favorite dishes here include the linguine with seafood and for dessert the homemade Dutch Apple Pie is sinfully good.
For a romantic getaway on Aruba, that feels like you’re living in a fairy tale, pink flamingos included, head to breathtaking Renaissance Island, a gorgeous private island that’s only accessible to guests staying at Marriott’s Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino.
I appreciate how Renaissance Island has a tranquil adult only beach and a spa pavilion that when you book a treatment you get all to yourself. This is an ideal place to relax in your own private paradise, surround by the sun, sea and surf.
If you want to get out on the water Red Sail Sports has some great Sunset Catamaran Cruises and different snorkeling trips you can take.
Feeling adventuresome? Enjoy the romantic wild side of Aruba with the help of De Palm Tours that will take you to some of the most picturesque places on the island that are in Arikok National Park and that you can only get to by four-wheel drive. Stops not to miss include a natural pool you can swim and snorkel in called Conchi, Boca Prins and Baby Beach that’s ideal for some quiet time together.
So whether you’re trying to plan the best Caribbean honeymoon, an anniversary celebration, a romantic rendezvous or a romantic escape with someone special Aruba is an island for love… and an island you’ll quickly fall in love with.
