Man charged in fatal Queens hit-and-run

(PIX11) – A man has been arrested and charged in the hit-and-run death woman in Queens Friday evening.

Vishwanand Subryan, 23, is accused of hitting 59-year-old Raj Chohan as she walked along 117th Street near 97th Avenue in Richmond Hill, then speeding off.

Chohan was taken to Jamaica Hospital where she was pronounced dead.


Police in the area apprehended Subryan near 115th Street and 101 Avenue a short time later.

“They need a speed bump in this area,” one Richmond Hill resident told PIX11. “Cars keep speeding through this place here. They never stop. You’re always scared for the kids and the other people crossing the roads. ”

Subryan is being charged with vehicular manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and DWI.
