Machete wielding man shot by cops in Brooklyn

East Flatbush, BROOKLYN (PIX11)– On Saturday police responded to a 911 call in East Flatbush, Brooklyn of a dispute involving a man armed with two knives.

When cops arrived to the scene on 159 E. 46th Street they found 49-year-old Rene Loney armed with two machetes, one in each hand. The suspect approached the uniformed officers, forcing one of them to shoot.

Loney was hit twice, once in the right forearm and once in the left hip. The suspect was taken to Kings County Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

The knives were taken from the scene of the incident.

Both officers were taken to Methodist Hospital for loud ringing in their ears from the gun shots, but are otherwise OK.

Loney has been charged with menacing a police officer.
