WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN (PIX11) – Once a year, thousands of people gather in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert for the art festival known as “Burning Man.”

Kate Dehnel teamed up with Etan Fraiman to host a party opposite “Burning Man,” called “Melting Woman.”

We caught a sneak peak as Kate and her team dressed up the party’s centerpiece, the Melting Woman.

It’s all part of a daylong festival with a symbolic woman carved from a 300-pound block of ice.

“I usually go to “Burning Man” this time of year, but instead of moping, my friends and I decided to throw a party and call it “Melting Woman.”

And this “melting woman” presides over activities like hula-hooping or cocktail making, where each cup is melting woman themed.

Kate says, perhaps, “Melting Woman” will give New Yorkers a little taste of how they celebrate creativity and self-exploration out West.
