(PIX11) — Help Mr. G with a cause that is near and dear to him during this back-to-school season.

There are a record number of homeless children in the city and they cannot afford school supplies they need to go to school.

The Coalition for the Homeless’ “Project: Back to School” is helping these kids get the items they need. They are looking for supplies such as to No. 2 pencils, composition notebooks, pocket folders, and safety scissors.

Mr. G is especially asking for backpacks suitable for children in pre-K through first grade. The goal is to get 6,000 backpacks by Sept. 20.
