(PIX11) – A new report claims the NYPD has a label for all mosques around the city: terrorist organizations.

According to the Associated Press report, the terrorism designation allows police to use informants to record sermons and spy on imams, often without specific evidence of criminal wrongdoing.

After the 9/11 attacks, the NYPD has reportedly opened at least a dozen “terrorism enterprise investigations” into mosques.

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly has denounced the claims, calling the AP investigation “fiction.”
