New York to drop GED, adopt new testing standards for 2014

(PIX11) – The current GED testing format will be abandoned by 2014 to make way for new standards in New York.

Students aiming for a high school equivalency diploma will need to act fast.

Those who haven’t passed the entire five-part General Educational Development exam by that time will have to start over.

The state is going a step further, dropping the GED outright in favor of the new test assessing secondary completion.
