Nine injured after ferry makes hard landing at Liberty Island

A ferry attempting to dock at Liberty Island made a hard landing Tuesday afternoon, leaving nine passengers with minor injuries, according to police sources.

The ferry, Miss New Jersey,  was unable to stop before colliding with the dock after traveling from Jersey City to Ellis Island.  The hard landing was caused by waves that suddenly propelled it forward it as it entered.

All the injured passengers refused medical attention at the scene.

Miss New Jersey is part of the Circle Line ferry fleet.
