Authorities in Portland say a homeless man held up a bank just so he could go to jail and get free health care.

The 50-year-old man walked into a Bank of America in Portland last week and handed the teller a note demanding exactly one dollar.

Police say he was sitting on the floor of the bank, waiting to be arrested when they arrived.

Apparently he had spent the last week trying to get himself locked up, even calling 911 to report himself.
