Could new speeding cameras around school zones be restricting our liberties?

In September, NYC will implement cameras to ticket speeding cars — not knowing or having any interaction with the drivers — only capturing the car itself.

This poses a problem for two reasons — what if you’re not the one driving your car? You’re the one who will be fined.

Also, this violates the 6th amendment clause that states we all have a right to face our accuser — and how can we face a camera? These machines take out the middle man, the police officer who we’d normally interact with in a speeding violation.

Not to mention this is more surveillance in NYC. There won’t be any points on your license, but there will be a fine — is this just another way for the government to earn money?
