Teenage girl found dead on Rockville Centre footbridge

(PIX11) – Nassau County police are investigating the death of a teenage girl whose body was found on a footbridge in Rockville Centre Thursday night.

According to police, 18-year-old Lauren Daverin of Lynbrook was discovered unresponsive on the Mill Pond footbridge, located between Sunrise Highway and Merrick Road, at 10 p.m.

Paramedics pronounced Daverin dead on the scene at 10:15 p.m. and her body was taken to the Nassau County Medical Examiners Office to determine the cause of death.

The footbridge, which is about 100 feet across and 10 feet wide, is strewn with garbage and graffiti and overgrown by bushes and trees.

A “RIP Lauren Daverin” Facebook page was created Thursday in the girl’s memory Friday.

Police are urging anyone with information regarding the death to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All calls are kept anonymous.
