2 cops among 8 injured in crash after high speed chase through Brooklyn

(PIX11) – Eight people including two police officers were injured following a police pursuit early Wednesday morning.

The chase began around 2:30 a.m. when police received a report about a hit-and-run in Queens involving a black Nissan Altima.

Officers followed the speeding car down into Brooklyn where it slammed into a BMW stopped at a red light at Atlantic and Van Siclen avenues. The accident caused the unmarked police car to hit the suspect’s car.

Five people in the BMW, the two officers and the suspect were all taken to area hospitals and sustained minor injuries.

Police say the suspect is in custody and charges are pending.
