Long Island man arrested after standoff with police

Police responded to a home on Bayfront Drive in Baldwin Sunday night after neighbors complained of loud fireworks.

“The whole house shook. Every cat and dog hasn’t been seen for five hours now,” Tom Reiley, a longtime resident said.

When Nassau County Police arrived, cops said the a man barricaded himself in his home for hours. There were no hostages.

Neighbors said it didn’t sound like normal fireworks, but more like dynamite.

According to police, the man eventually came out of his home just before 4:30am Monday. He was arrested.
