Former Gov. Pataki cleared from lawsuit involving sex offenders’ rights

Governor Pataki is off the hook in the case of the state’s controversial civil confinement policy.

A group of convicted sex offenders sued Pataki because they say he violated their civil rights by keeping them in confinement after they finished serving their sentences.

But a jury ruled the practice was legal.

Pataki’s lawyer s argued the ex-cons were evaluated by a state panel of shrinks after prison and had no recourse when they were ordered to be kept in confinement.
