(PIX11) – New York bar owners are joining a nation-wide movement and pulling popular Russian vodkas off their menus.

It’s all part of a campaign to boycott Russian brands because of a new law in that country that bans public displays of homosexuality.

The law imposes fines on anyone who holds gay pride rallies or distributes LGBT materials to children.

Saturday afternoon, Boxers NYC, which owns sports bars in Chelsea and Hell’s Kitchen, announced they’re joining in.

Meanwhile, the CEO of Stolichnaya has released a statement saying Stoli is supportive of LGBT rights, and has sponsored pride-parades world-wide.
