George Zimmerman juror says he's "guilty of murder"

(CNN) — A juror in the George Zimmerman trial says she feels the man who killed Trayvon Martin “got away with murder.”

“George Zimmerman got away with murder, but you can’t get away from God. And at the end of the day, he’s going to have a lot of questions and answers he has to deal with,” Juror B29 told ABC, according to an article posted on the network’s website Thursday. “(But) the law couldn’t prove it.”

The juror, who used only her first name of Maddy out of concerns for her safety, told ABC that she and others on the panel felt Zimmerman was guilty, but that wasn’t enough.

“You can’t put the man in jail even though in our hearts we felt he was guilty,” she said. “But we had to grab our hearts and put it aside and look at the evidence.”

Maddy is the second juror to speak about the high-profile case since the six-person, all-female jury acquitted Zimmerman earlier this month.

She and other jurors also have identified themselves by their numbers from the jury pool.

Last week the woman known as Juror B37 told CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360″ that Zimmerman “didn’t do anything unlawful” and was “justified” in shooting 17-year-old Martin last year.

Zimmerman has been out of the public eye since the jury found him not guilty of second degree murder on July 13. His parents told ABC News last week that their family has received an “enormous amount of death threats.”

He fatally shot Martin in the Sanford, Florida, neighborhood where Zimmerman and Martin’s father lived in February 2012. Zimmerman, who is Hispanic, had a confrontation with the unarmed African-American teen after calling police to report a suspicious person, and he said he shot Martin in self-defense.

The case became a flash point in debates over racial profiling, and thousands attended vigils across the country over the weekend, decrying the verdict.

Maddy, 36, is Puerto Rican and a mother of eight children, ABC said. She was the only minority to deliberate in the case. She told ABC that the case was never about race to her.

At the beginning of deliberations, she told ABC, she wanted to convict Zimmerman of second-degree murder. But she realized on the second day of deliberations that there wasn’t enough proof to convict him of murder or the lesser charge of manslaughter.

“I was the juror that was going to give them the hung jury. I fought to the end,” she said, according to ABC.

Juror B37 told CNN that the jury was initially split — three and three along the line of guilt. Juror B37 was among those who believed Zimmerman was not guilty from the start.

She stressed that she and the other jurors took their responsibility seriously.

“I don’t want people to think that we didn’t think about this, and we didn’t care about Trayvon Martin, because we did. We’re very sad that it happened to him,” she said.

Juror B29 told ABC that the decision is still weighing heavily on her, and she thinks she owes Martin’s parents an apology.

“It’s hard for me to sleep, it’s hard for me to eat because I feel I was forcefully included in Trayvon Martin’s death,” she told ABC. “And as I carry him on my back, I’m hurting as much (as) Trayvon Martin’s mother because there’s no way that any mother should feel that pain.”

What's missing in the article is this comment from her:

"As much as we were trying to find this man guilty …"

Did she not listen to the jury instructions???

Wow. I did not have to see her picture and knew she was a lady of color. Another sister, validating our choir boy in training, for beating Zimmerman, and pouncing on his head. Dear Maddy, have you asked your self a very simple question.? If Zimmerman was unarmed, he was a dead man. Why has the MSM, continue to shop his baby picture, and hide the most recent pics, of his facial tattoo's, and sparkling gold teeth, and the fact that he was a pot smoker, and dealer.? Trayvon Martin, was no role model, for sure.

Well.. well.. well… Who would have known! Finally a juror comes out and admits that Zimmerman got away with murder, however they weren't able to prove it! Trust and believe there is a God and it ain't over!

  • sickofthis

Zimmerman shot him in SELF DEFENSE!!!!! No one would even give a damn if the man who had killed Trayvon Martin been black – it would never make the news. This woman is an idiot. Undoubtably she feels guilty after returning to her family and friends. Black people are the most racist people that I know. You have got to learn to accept the verdict and move on and stop throwing your tempter tantrums whenever you don't get your way. Shut up already.

First of all, it's spelled temper and slavery is over and you are no longer "massa" and you don't tell us what to be angry about or how long we are supposed to be angry about it! More than likely the reason Zimmerman moved Trayvon's arms was because he was trying pull his body to either hide it or put in a doorway so he could say he shot him trying to break into a house. But the police arrived before he could do it. And if he was so interested in finding the people who were breaking into the houses, why didn't he or any of the tenants have enough brains to get security cameras in the area? Then they could go around the neighborhood and find them. If he was such a great neighborhood watchman then why were the batteries in his flashlight dead but he had bullets in his gun? Why didn't the prosecution hire an interpreter for the medical examiner and Rachel? She wasn't stupid. It's that English was her third language. I could go on and on about that kangaroo court sitution.

Sickofthis, Martin fought him in self defense!!! H e was on his way home and followed by an unknown stranger who got out of his truck with a gun! Otherwise Martin would have had no reason "TO smash his head into the pavement"!

    • Don't Censor Me Bro

Martin, the trespasser, who was under the influence of THC, attacked a concerned citizen and died as a result of said citizen righteously defending himself.

      • ELLIE

Don't use the term "Bro" , you need to check the origination. Whites are always demanding and complaining, but as soon as someone esle does the same thing, whites take it personal. I guiess, it that "old slave master mentallity" that' somehow whites are in charge of the world. Get a grip, we don't owe your race anything. You need to grow up. Only GOD is in charge of mankind, and he will right ALL wrong. If my child was walking home and someone followed him, I would expect him to protect himself also. GEORGE THINKS HE HAS GOTTEN AWAY WITH MURDER, BUT GOD WILL RIGHT THIS WRONG. AMEN

      • Army0fAntz

You mad bro? Oh wait.. that's racist again… LOL George did what George had to do, protect himself from a drugged up thug.

    • dockilldare

if martin was on his way home and just innocently walking there. why did he not continue the 100 yards to his house? from the time of the Zimmerman phone call to the police and the shooting martin had 4-6 minutes to get into his house, as stated 100 yards away. he didn't do that, he circled around and came up behind Zimmerman. yes that is Zimmerman's statement to police. however in the recorded phone conversation with the police dispatcher, Zimmerman tells the dispatcher he has lost sight of martin and he is going to try to find him. this is where the dispatcher suggested Zimmerman not do that by saying "we don't need you to do that." it was not an order, it was a suggestion. big difference. either way from the time of that phone call till the time he was shot, martin had more than enough time to make it home safely. he tried to be a gansta and lost.

    • Army0fAntz

LOL That is the truth! Now if it was a WHITE killing a black cheating girlfriend, the racist group that calls themselves panthers (panthers are not pussies like these guys) would put a bounty on his head. ROFL

Juror B29 previously said that the case against Zimmerman lacked evidence. She now claims that Zimmerman “got away with murder.”

The obvious motive is money. B29 stands to become a celebrity to the Trayvon Martin supporters. One other juror has already reportedly signed a book deal. Juror B29 stands to get the biggest book deal of all because of her race. The parents of Trayvon Martin have cashed in big time, receiving speaking fees, royalties, and a massive unspecified settlement from the city of Sanford.

Four other jurors write a letter saying they disagree with Juror B29′s claims.

Also. Now ABC National News has joined CNN and MSNBC in calling Zimmerman a “white Hispanic.” Calling him “white” better fits their political agenda.

    • Aeryn

The book deal was nixed for B 37 after twitter revolted. 4 jurors wrote a letter about B 37 who came out first and wanted to write a book.

I can only hope people would do the same if B-29 tries to write a book.

  • mike

Yeah zimmerman stayed away from the public…..untill he pulled people from a car accident….good reporting there….

  • Guntotinglady

Oh, please lady, go back to whatever rock you crawled out from under. You got what you wanted, your 15 min (or is that seconds) of fame. Thankfully YOU weren't in on the deliberations, as obviously YOU don't understand the rule of law. Get a life.

  • susan

So maybe now we will have some more rioting in America because today its totally acceptable to riot when you don't get your way and happen to be Black

    • ELLIE

Whites are very good at hiding their intentions. They act all proper, but behind closed doors they are as ruthless as HELL!!!!!! Look around at their destruction.

  • hammar

She is a horror citizen and low life looking looking to make money and fame now. She is nothing
more than a match for more fire.

before I say anything about this woman, I was given an assignment for my legal classes to be either in the court room watching this trial or at least in one of the side rooms watching the trial on a monitor. I went into the trial thinking Zimmerman should be found guilty, as most folks do, after seeing the trial and listening to the evidence I have to agree with the jury.

now as for this woman. this tells me one of two things about this woman. either she is lying through her teeth here for her 15 minutes in the spotlight and a big payday or she is a moral coward who did not stand up for what she believes in, and was derelict in her duty as a juror. there is no other options. either way nothing she says is worth listening to.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT COLOR NOR RACE …IT IS ABOUT THE HUMAN RACE. A LIFE. WHEN YOU TAKE ACTION TO COMMITT A FELONY, A MURDER, , ESPECAILLY WHEN YOU PROFILE A YOUNG TEENAGER BECAUSE OF THEIR COLOR, OR THE WAY THAT HE IS DRESS. THERE IS NO EXCUSE. IT IS A SHAME THAT AFTER THE ASSANITATION OF THIS TEENAGER, YOU ARE ALLOW TO USE THE EXCUSE OF STAND YOUR GROUND, OR EVEN SELF DEFENSE. TO AVOID SENTENCING-JAIL TIME. IT IS TRULLY A HORRIBLE EXAMPLE THAT IT IS OK TO KILL AND GET AWAY FOR MURDER…HE SHOULD HAVE BE RESPONSIBLE IN SOME WAY FOR HIS ACT OF CAUSING BODLY DAMAGE TO A LIFE…FOR PROFILING, AND FOE HIS ACTIONS…NOT TO BE SET FREE TO LIVE IN SOCIETY AS IF NOTHING HAPPEN…WHAT EXAMPLE ARE WE SENDING OUT TO THE HUMAN RACE, TO SOCIETY AND TO OUR COMMUNITY…WE ARE HEADING IN THE WRONG DIRRECTION WITH THIS LAW, WITH THIS VERDICT AND WITH THIS EXAMPLE…..BUT ONE THING FOR SURE YOU WILL HAVE TO STAND BEFORE GOD AND SURRENDER ANSWERS FOR ALL OF YOUR ACTIONS….GOD BLESS AMERICA….

    • Arch

Ray, your caps lock key is on…… Nice rant though. Tried by a jury of his peers, found not guilty due to lack of evidence. That is the way the system works. That same system allows you and me to voice our opinions freely. If you don't like it, there are planes and boats leaving the USA every day.

  • Gumbo

What I do not understand is why this woman did not "stand her ground" in the jury room. She was allowed to give her views and stick with them. She did not. I feel no pity for her. She is giving her comments to late. the trial is OVER.

  • Ilene

If this juror felt that strongly she would have never caved in the first place. Sad day when we form a system of justice and then cry about the out come of that justice. They just want their moment of fame. Prosecution and defense chose a jury trial and they have to live with the out come of that jury period. They could have went with a bench decision and let the judge rule on the matter. Whether anyone agrees or disagrees that is how our justice system was set up and worked, or not worked, since that time. Had the verdict been the other way people would have cried about that choice as well. Anything to stir the race issue. Wonder how much she was paid for that change of heart.

  • tara

I agree with what youre saying about she should have stood her ground while entitled to predict the verdit it is too late now. it may have been better if the jury was hung because that ensure that all is standing on what they believed. Zimmerman got away with murder of travon and that simple as that

  • Pat

Oh Boy, everyone wants their moment of fame. How much does she think she is going to make going on the regret tour?????

  • calypsoman

I wonder how much money this "Mexican" got from that black ABC reporter on ABC for saying what she. I'll bet lots of money passed hands ? As a juror she is supposed to find guilt or non-guilt BASED ON THE EVIDENCE not what she feels. What does she know that others do not for her to say he got away with murder? She is a bleed/n disgrace and should not be on any jury. In fact she ought not be shooting her mouth off a la Hussain.
