Smoke condition on plane at Newark Airport as United Express jet lands from Pittsburgh

A United Express plane with smoke in the cockpit landed at Newark Liberty International Airport Thursday morning, with passengers evacuated on the runway, a Port Authority spokesman said.

Twenty-seven passengers were evacuated without injury from the plane, which flew in from Pittsburgh.

The plane is now being towed back to Gate C at the airport.
