(PIX11) – A couple who survived the deadly movie theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado last summer decided to commemorate the anniversary with love.

Kirstin Davis and Eugene Han were married on the day of the one-year anniversary of the mass shooting.

During the midnight screening of “The Dark Knight,” Han was shot in the hip and knee shielding Davis from gunfire.

12 people died and 70 were injured.

The couple is glad that July 20th will now be remembered as the happiest day of their lives — not the worst.
