Trailblazing White House correspondent Helen Thomas dies at 92

(PIx11) – Journalist Helen Thomas has died. The trailblazing correspondent was once Dean of the White House press room.

For decades she was allowed the first question for presidents from Kennedy to Obama and it was often a zinger.

In 2000 Thomas left UPI to become a columnist for Hearst.

She lost her seat when she was asked about Israel.

The Lebanese American said the Jews should get out of Palestine and go home to Germany and Poland.

She apologized, and abruptly retired.

Helen Thomas was 92.
