BROOKLYN, NEW YORK (PIX11)– It’s a new era in Brooklyn. With two future Hall of Famers and  a former 6th man of the year the Nets are serious about winning a NBA title.

The Nets made the trade for Kevin Garnett , Paul Pierce and Jason Terry to do for the Nets what they did for the Boston Celtics and Dallas Mavericks,  win the Larry O’Brien trophy.

Kevin Garnett needed some prodding to agree to be traded from the Celtics to the Nets but he believes the pieces are in place for a title, “Adding players like Paul Pierce, myself and Jason Terry to the Nets gives us a chance to win now”.

KG and Pierce won a title with Celtics in 2008. Terry with the Mavs in 2010, but their ages may be an issue. They are 37 and 35, respectively however their championship experience is vital says  rookie Head Coach Jason Kidd “I  don’t need to teach, KG and Paul Pierce can fit right in and play and we can take it from there”.   Pierce believes the Nets have the talent to challenge the Heat, Bulls, Pacers in the East “the word championship has been heard a lot today. We believe we can win the title with this team”.

It’s been a rough week for Kidd he plead  guilty to DWI on Tuesday.

Reports say the NBA will probably suspend him for the first two games of the season.

Russian Nets Owner Mikakal Prokorov stands by Kidd and his new team that will challenge for a NBA title but  more importantly New York. Prokorov has a message for Knicks owner Jim Dolan, “I want to congratulate Knicks owner James Dolan, he now is watching us”.

Prokorov will spend 100 million dollars in salary this year along with 83 million in a luxury tax.  By all accounts that is a lot of rubles.
