He’s back!

After much speculation about what’s next for the former host of  “Live with Regis and Kelly,”  Regis Philbin will resurface as host of “Crowd Goes Wild,” a new program on the Fox Sports 1 cable channel.

The cable channel is new, too, and is positioning itself as a competitor to  ESPN.

The show will feature Philbin, 81, interviewing athletes and actors in conversations centered around sports themes. The show will also have a strong social media component, engaging viewers in the conversation. The show premieres next month.

Executive producer Michael Davie  explains that “Crowd Goes Wild” will be a “sports entertainment show,” according to The Associated Press.

“I’m happy to be part of sports TV. If you look at the ratings, that’s what’s on top. Sports is the biggest hit TV has these days. It’s all there on the field, pal,” Philbin said, according to eonline.
