LIRR suspends some service after broken rail in East River tunnel

LIRR FULLY OPRATIONALWestbound service on the LIRR between Jamaica and Penn remains suspended after a broken rail in an Amtrak East River tunnel has created evening rush commute woes.

The LIRR also says there are eastbound cancellations and delays of up to 20 minutes. Far Rockaway and Hempstead Eastbound Trains are operating from Atlantic Terminal.

Efforts to repair the damage are under way.
