PATERSON, NJ (PIX11) – Police arrested a man Tuesday for allegedly sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl while installing a satellite in a family’s home in Paterson, NJ.
Arcadio “Junior” Nova, 38, from Washington Heights, NY, works for DirecTV as an independent contractor, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
On July 3rd, Nova came to work on the DirecTV system. While working, he asked an 8-year-old girl in the house for help with the project, and lured her downstairs.
Nova then forced the girl to perform sex acts on him, the prosecutor said, before the girl managed to escape upstairs to her parents. Police were then called to the scene.
Mayor of Paterson, Jeffery Jones, reflected: “As a father and as a grandfather, my heart is raging. My mind is raging.”
He acknowledges that his beloved town is a prime target for predators: “We don’t know who’s among us — if we were a smaller city, less dense, we’d have a better handle.”
On Tuesday, Nova was charged with with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree luring, second-degree sexual assault and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
He is currently being held at Passaic County Jail. For aggravated sexual assault, he may be sentenced with up to 20 years; with second-degree luring and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, he may get up to 10 years additionally.
