NEW YORK (PIX11) — Thousands of babies are born every day but there’s one upcoming birth that we can’t seem to avoid hearing about.

International media outlets continue to go bonkers for Prince William and Kate Middleton’s expecting bundle of joy, serving up round-the-clock coverage on the baby most of us will probably never meet.

So why the onslaught? Does anyone even care? PIX11’s Andrew Ramos hit the streets to find out if this so-called royal baby watch was more of a hogwash than anything.

Andrew, now that I'm relaxed, and know what you were talking about, and now that The Baby has been born, I just wanna say: the fabric of the universe is indeed intact, and you made me momentarily famous, at least to a circle of friends & family, who saw your edgily smooth report.

Someday let's get together: you, me and the king, for that exclusive!
