(PIX11) — Gabriel Cordell returned back home on Monday, to his home in West Hempstead, Long Island, after completing a 3,100-mile cross-country trip on his wheelchair — and becoming the first person to complete such a journey.

On April 1, the 42-year-old began his trip on the Santa Monica Pier and arrived home on Monday.

On Wednesday, Cordell along with the woman who captured his entire journey, documentary film maker Lisa France, visited the PIX11 Morning News to talk about his incredible journey.

He says that he is an “extreme guy” who wanted to accomplish an extreme task hoping to allow people to understand that they can “accomplish anything as long  as they put their minds to it.”
