NEW YORK (PIX11) — According to a recent survey, online dating has become an undeniable force that’s bringing together a lot of couples and its those success rates that’s caught the attention of Miss USA herself.

A profile on the matchmaking app Tinder belonging to Miss USA 2012 Nana Meriwether was recently uncovered by a man who stumbled upon the stunner, the New York Post reports.

The beauty queen admitted that the profile was indeed her own, telling the Post, “Even pageant-title-holders get lonely.”

While online dating has become increasing prevalent, some still consider the practice a bit taboo, finding it hard to believe that Meriwether can’t find love on her own.

“It’s weird because if like anybody else does online dating, they are not considered freaks,” Nadine LaRacuente told PIX 11 News. “But because she’s Miss USA, you’re like ‘oh my God, there has to be something wrong with her.'”

Meanwhile Ali Zaslav admits she’s skeptical of the whole online dating trend.

“You don’t know who you’re gonna end up meeting. It can be a real old guy, it can be a real young guy. It can be a 10 year old. You have no idea,” she said. “I think people should stick to the old fashion way of dating.”

Whether anyone wants to acknowledge it, a recent study did show nearly 35% of married couples met on the internet in some fashion. Research also shows these online couples are enjoying happier marriages and are less likely to split.

So maybe Miss USA is on to something?
