NEW YORK (PIX11) – A trio of business interests have teamed up to provide a kids’ playground in the shore-front area of Brooklyn trashed last year by Superstorm Sandy.

The Mets, The Mets Alumni Association and Citibank pooled their resources to make this happen. Mets Hall of Fam pitcher John Franco was on hand Monday morning to unveil the spruced up facility that will serve as a recreation area for more than 3,000 children annually in the area of Brighton and Manhattan beaches.

The funding provided by Citibank helped to renovate the area that needed just about everything,  from new concrete to fencing and outdoor shaded areas.
