BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ (PIX11) – Thousands across several townships in New Jersey were left without power after storms ripped through the area Monday.
Some of the most severe damage reported in Berkeley Heights where the Mayor says a tornado touched down – a claim confirmed by the National Weather Service Monday night.
Utility crews descended on the area with as many as 4,500 homes left without power, Officials say they hope to have the majority of power back on by midnight.
No storm related injuries were reported, although many residents are anxious that more storms are forecasted for Tuesday.
