Suspect in nanny cam attack to be arraigned Tuesday

nanny-cam-beating-thumb-newThe man accused of breaking into a Millburn, New Jersey home and viciously attacking a young mother in front of her child will be arraigned Tuesday in Newark.

42-year-old Shawn Custis, who has an extensive criminal , was arrested last Friday in the Inwood section of Manhattan, shortly after being publicly identified as a suspect by authorities.

Custis is accused of breaking into the home at about 10 a.m. June 21 while the woman was making breakfast for her two young children.

In the attack caught on the family’s nanny cam, the man can be seen vicously kicking and punching the woman while her 3-year-old daughter watches on the couch. He then threw the woman down the basement stairs.

The suspect fled the home with jewelry and other valuables.

The victim was treated for a concussion and bruising to her face and body. She also suffered several chipped teeth and had to get stitches near her mouth.

Custis is being charged with attempted murder, burglary and child endangerment.
