When will the nomination of the new Chairman/CEO of the MTA be heard?

Why has it not been heard?

There has been no official comment from the leadership of the state senate about the specifics of the nomination. The session is expected to close by June 20. The nomination could be heard anytime be the full senate, officials say.

In April, Governor Cuomo nominated Thomas Prendergast to the position after Joseph Lhota resigned December 31, 2012 to run for Mayor of New York City.

Prendergast has a history of service with the MTA dating back to 1982 including leading the LIRR and Transit Division. He headed up the Vancouver Transit System prior to arriving back at the MTA in 2009.
