Flood watch in effect for New York and New Jersey areas

There is a flood watch in effect for New York and New Jersey areas until Tuesday morning.

Earlier today, the New Jersey Turnpike was facing delays in both directions beginning from the Delaware Memorial Bridge to the George Washington Bridge. The Garden State Parkway faced a six mile delay on the northbound side from Brick Township to Wall Township, with two lanes closed due to flooding. The Parkway has recently reopened and water is being removed from the roads.

]Over the weekend, tropical storm Andrea, which was downgraded to a post-tropical storm, hit New Jersey and parts of New York. Following the storm, parts of the Tri-State area experienced heavy rainfall.

New Jersey and some areas of New York have witnessed 7 inches of rain thus far, with two more inches to be expected. The storm is placing this month in the 10 wettest Junes on record.
